The Alameda Food Bank is currently serving 1100 families a week.

We always need volunteers for food packing and sorting as well as client check-in, food distribution, traffic control, set-up and clean-up.  Masks must be worn inside at all times, regardless of vaccination status.

At this time, we are looking for volunteers who can make an on-going, weekly commitment to the AFB.

This makes it easier for us to train a consistent roster of volunteers who will become adept at performing a variety of jobs. Please contact the Program Manager to discuss reserving a shift on an ongoing basis.

Age Limits

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Location

Volunteers should go to 650 West Ranger Avenue, Alameda for their shift and park in the lot at the corner of Pan Am Way and West Ranger Avenue.

Dress Appropriately

Closed-toe shoes are required. Please dress appropriately for a warehouse environment.

Your Valuables

Valuables and nonessential personal items should be left at home or in your vehicle.

Code of Conduct

Volunteers must read Code of Conduct and Harassment Policy documents prior to attending a volunteer shift.

We are no longer able to verify court appointed volunteer hours. If you need to complete court appointed hours you will need to complete them with another organization.

Sign Up for a Shift

Shifts are available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and vary between two and three hours each.
