Alameda Food Bank Announces 2017 Turkey Drive

For many decades the Alameda community has come together to support local families during the holiday season. Today, nearly one in seven Alameda households receive help from the Alameda Food Bank. Last year, our community generously donated more than 1,100 turkeys, which were distributed, along with other holiday food items, to our clients. We thank the people of Alameda for their ongoing generosity—without it we would not be able to serve our neighbors in need.

This year our goal is to collect 1,100 turkeys by Wednesday, November 8, 2017.

IF YOU CAN DONATE A TURKEY: Please bring turkeys (preferably frozen) to 1900 Thau Way Monday – Friday between 10 AM and 4 PM. If you have a large number of turkeys, please call 510-523-6064 or email to coordinate a drop at our warehouse.

IF YOU NEED A TURKEY: Turkeys will be distributed to current Alameda Food Bank clients on a first-come, first-served basis on Saturday, November 18 between 10 AM and 12:30 PM at our warehouse at 650 W. Ranger Avenue. In addition to receiving a turkey, holiday foods such as mashed potatoes, yams and cranberries will be available. New this year, you can get your turkey during regular monthly pantry pick-up starting November 1 if you don’t go on November 18.
