If you are in need of food assistance you may qualify for this 3-day supply of emergency food. Call the Hunger Hotline at 1-800-870-FOOD (3663) and ask the operator for an EFB Referral!

How to Get Food

First we are required to conduct a brief interview to verify eligibility.  The interview form includes the number of family members in your household, income sources and amounts, residency, and other relevant data.   Once the interview is complete, and you qualify for the Food Bank, you may immediately pick up your first food basket.  At each visit thereafter we verify your information, noting any changes.  To enroll please stop by the Food Bank during normal business hours for an interview.  No advanced notice is necessary.

Eligibility Requirements

Clients of the Food Bank must be residents of the City of Alameda and have a household income that does not exceed current requirements. Picture I.D and current proof of residency (utility bill, rental agreement, etc.) are required for each visit. 

Programs

The Food Bank offers three programs that can be attended once per month and one program that can be attended once per week. 

Monthly Food Programs (one time per month for each program) 

1. Regular Program ( holidays excluded) – 1900 Thau Way (except Third Wednesdays - 650 West Ranger)

Hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1 – 4 pm
Tuesday from 4:30 until 6:30 pm
The second, third and fourth Saturday of each month from 11 am – 1 pm.

Perishable and Non-Perishable foods distributed. 

 

2. USDA (Government sponsored foods)

Beginning July 1, 2008, USDA Food Packagaes will be availalbe to all eligible households with their regular Pantry Food Pickup. 

3. CFS (Client Food Selection)– 650 West Ranger

First Saturday of each month from 10 am – 12:30 pm.
CFS allows you to choose your food items. See a volunteer for more information.

Non-Perishable foods distributed. 

 

Weekly Food Programs (one time per week ) 

1. Perishable Food Program (formerly the Bread Program) 

Hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 - 10:30 am

Tuesday is held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1910 Santa Clara (corner of Lafayette)

Thursday is held at the Food Bank warehouse, 650 W. Ranger in Alameda Point

Perishable foods distributed.
