The Alameda Food Bank exists due to the wonderful support from the Alameda community over the past 36 years. We need all the help we can get to help our clients. We welcome financial contributions. We also welcome community members and groups interested in doing their own non-perishable food drives to benefit the food bank.
You can donate funds to the Alameda Food Bank several ways.
Donate via credit card:

Network for Good provides a safe, secure way to make on-line donations. In order for the full amount of your donation to be credited to the Alameda Food Bank, Network for Good absorbs all of the processing and bank transaction fees. To help offset these costs, Network for Good offers donors the option 1) to donate an additional three percent, or 2) to have it subtracted from your donation.
We are pleased to announce the transaction fees for making secure credit card donations through Network For Good have been reduced to 3% as of July, 2014. Network For Good is a “good” way to give anonymously or to make automatic monthly or quarterly donations.
Donate via check or cash contribution:
We welcome check and cash contributions. For checks, you can simply mail them to us: Alameda Food Bank, P.O. Box 2167, Alameda CA 94501. You can also feel free to drop checks or cash by the distribution center at 1900 Thau Way. We are open for donations and office hours Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 AM-4 PM, Tuesdays from 9 AM-6:30 PM, and Thursdays from noon-3 PM. We will give you a receipt for your donation if you like.
Donate via estate planning:

The Food Bank welcomes donations of canned and other non-perishable foods in unopened containers. We also accept limited quantities of perishable items like fresh produce, meats, dairy products, etc.
Below is a list of key food items that we need to ensure a healthy, balanced food package for our clients.

Unopened, non-expired non-perishable foods or fresh produce can be brought by our distribution center at 1900 Thau Way. We are open for donations and office hours Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 AM-4 PM, Tuesdays from 9 AM-6:30 PM, and Thursdays from noon-3 PM. We will give you a receipt for your donation if you like.
You can also donate non-perishable items into any of our red donation barrels around town:
(Non-perishable, non-refrigerated, no glass please. Any fresh, cold or fragile donations should be made to the food bank directly.)

Sponsor a Canned Food Drive for the Alameda Food Bank!
Many Alamedans enjoy sponsoring a canned food drive. We are happy to deliver a red barrel to your organization, office, workplace, school, etc. If you would like a donation barrel for your school, workplace, or organization, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, and include the following information:
- Name, email address, and phone number of the contact person.
- The date you would like the barrel delivered.
- The address (and directions) where you would like the barrel delivered. Please be specific – give us a room or office number and the name of a person who will be there to receive it.
- The date you would like the full barrel picked up.
We need to receive your request at least ONE WEEK IN ADVANCE of when you want the barrel.
